Seeing Winter in Florida
Oh my goodness – I am so EXCITED! Can you tell? Today is the day I have been waiting for, for the last 55 days.
It all started in 2011, when the movie “A Dolphin’s Tale” came out. We were visiting our grandchildren and my oldest, Rory, asked me if I would take her to see Winter in Florida. She was three at the time and I thought, surely, she must be confused. Winter in Florida… is there such a thing?
My son then explained to me that Winter was a dolphin and the star of a new movie. Ooooh, okay, I get it now. Three year old Rory then said, “Yes, Winter is at the Clearwater Aquarium.” Really, she’s THREE?! Wait, now I truly get it! Her dad must have told her that my parents live in Clearwater. How convenient. AND… a plan was born.
My folks are only in Florida six months of the year, so we would have to visit when they were there, and the airfare would have to be cheap.
This September everything lined up and I booked the trip. Rory and I fly out today, see Winter tomorrow, hang out on the beach on Sunday, and head home on Monday. It’s the perfect little Bumpy/Rory getaway – with her great-grandparents playing a major role, as well.
What does any of this have to do with you, the reader? I would hope my excitement and joy has run over onto you and brought a smile to your face. I also hope that you remember to seize opportunity as it strolls by you. Just reach out and grab it!
Sometimes, a missed opportunity may never come around again. Sure, when I booked the trip I had a fairly open schedule. Since then, I have a work commitment, but I let them know right up front that I was not available during those days, and they were cool with that. Carpe Diem!
Have a fantastic weekend, my friends… enjoy.
