Responsibility?

Responsibility?

Every Man for Himself!

Sigh, this seems to be the tendency in our culture these days.

I’ve seen loving families reduced to bitter fighting when a loved one passes away.  This should be a time of gathering together to console and comfort each other, not coming to blows over who get Grandma’s jewelry or Dad’s convertible.

Military soldiers have things stolen.  These guys are supposed to ban together and have each other’s backs.   While most are living the code of honor,  it’s disheartening to hear that is not always the case.

In the corporate world I suppose it is somewhat understandable, as people are trying to claw their way to the top – but does that make it right?

The ultimate person in charge, be it the C.E.O., general or the president (oh, did I say “president” – don’t even get me started on the C.Y.A. that goes on in the political arena!) are responsible for the actions of the people underneath them.  What has happened to standing up and taking the responsibility for the mistake of someone you are in charge of?  Or… dare I say it??  Take responsibility for your own actions!

I find it very disheartening that the general tendency of our culture is to pass the buck because it’s every man (or woman) for themselves.  Oh, I have seen some wonderful acts of honesty, responsibility, and compassion, and I say “HOOAH!” to that.  It’s most unfortunate that that is not the “norm” any more.

Be brave, my friends, you can stand up in this world and say, “I am responsible for ________.”  There may be consequences for that, but you will have a clean conscience and the respect of those around you.

Have a wonderful weekend!
