Have you ever woken up in the morning and had a song playing in your head? Come on, fess up, I can’t be the only one this happens to. How about having trouble going to sleep because you have a song playing in your head? Yup, thankfully that hasn’t happened to me often, but it has happened a couple of times. Oh, you too? And then there’s the well known song you don’t want to be singing, that someone else sang, or mentioned, and now it’s stuck in your head.
You get the point. Songs can get stuck in your thoughts. Words can get stuck in our thoughts, too. Even when we aren’t thinking about them, they just pop into our head. Sometimes even our own thoughts can get stuck or replay in our brains!
It’s very important to be aware of our thoughts. Are they positive, encouraging thoughts, or are we dwelling on something negative? Negativity is no fun, for you or the people around you.
Have you considered getting fun, happy songs intentionally stuck in your head to help get rid of any negative thoughts? I mostly listen to HISRADIO in the Raleigh area. I used to listen to SPIRITFM up in the Roanoke area. There’s also K-LOVE which is a national radio station. The songs that are played on Contemporary Christian radio stations always lift my spirits. Maybe for you it’s the oldies (from when you were in high school) or classical/jazz. Of course, this time of year, Christmas music is everywhere – if you are one of those people who love Christmas music, turn it on… you can even turn it up and sing along.
The point is, “music soothes the savage beast,” and it can help get you into a better mood. Go ahead, give it a try!
And now to leave you with this thought, “This is the song that never ends….” Teehee.
Have a joyful weekend!
