I like to be busy, but I must admit… there are times I find myself exhausted by the end of the day. Why? If I’m honest with myself, I can allow myself to become over-committed.
Over-committed? In a time when people have lost their sense of commitment? Can someone be over-committed? Absolutely! Just ask a “do-er,” someone who is often busy and likes to get involved in things.
I often need to unwind at the end of my day; just take a little time to decompress and rejuvenate. I like to float for 20 minutes when I get home. It’s wonderful, so relaxing; I can just feel the tensions of the day drifting away.
How about you? How do you de-stress when you are feeling over-committed?
There are all kinds of things to do! You could:
Swim
Float
Walk/Run/Bike
Listen to music
Meditate
Read
Watch a little TV
Phone a friend
Check your social media or email
Snuggle with a loved one
Have a cup of tea or coffee
I’m sure there are many more that you could list.
The point is over-committed, busy, people need to take some time to relax!
If you are so busy that you honestly have NO time to relax, then it may be time to re-evaluate your commitments. Something probably needs to change. We only have 24 hours in a day. When we spend time on one thing, we are choosing to give up the opportunity to do something else. If you can’t make time to relax and rejuvenate, you run the risk of getting run down and possibly becoming ill. Then what good are you to all those things you are committed to?
Sure, be busy, be involved, but be smart. Take time to relax. You can do it!
