Pam’s Frequently Asked Questions [OLD]

Q. What is the difference between counseling and coaching?
A. Counseling primarily deals with a person’s past. Coaching deals with a person’s future.

Q. What training do you have?
A. I completed my training through Light University. I am a Certified Life Coach. I have completed coaching courses for Stress and Parenting. I have also taken courses called Counseling Teens God’s Way and Stress & Trauma Care with a Military Application

Q. How long is a session?
A. A typical session lasts about 50 minutes.

Q. How many sessions will I need?
A. This will depend on you. A weekly meeting is ideal. The number of sessions needed, will depend on what your goals are for change and how dedicated you are to working towards those goals.

Q. Can I contact you between sessions?
A. Yes, I am available by email for quick questions & success stories.

Q. What, exactly, will we be doing?
A. It is my job to ask powerful questions. Once a client has decided which direction they would like to go, I hold them accountable to what they said they wanted to do. Follow-up on the follow through, so to speak. Re-access and continue to move forward towards the client’s desired outcome.

Q. Why have your chosen to specialize in coaching teens/young adults?
A. I have a heart for the teen/young adult who is hurting, frustrated, and unhappy. I have a strong desire to help them be happy. I wish I could just give them a hug and make everything better, but life doesn’t work that way. Once they come to the place that they know they don’t want to live like “this” anymore, I would like to be able to help them achieve the goals to change their futures.

Q. How long have you been coaching teens/young adults?
A. I have had young people coming to me to talk, confide, get advice, input and suggestions since 2001, not counting my own children, who are now in their 20s.

Q. Why have your chosen to specialize in coaching parents?
A. If momma ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy – grin. I sure wasn’t the perfect parent, and my boys weren’t perfect kids, but we all did the best we knew how, at the time. Hindsight is 20/20 and if I knew then what I know now, I’d have done some things differently. I’d like to give people my knowledge so they can learn from my mistakes.

Q. Why have you chosen to specialize in coaching people to get themselves organized?
A. Organization comes easy to me. I can see chaos, group it, set up a plan to make it neat and orderly, and make it understandable. I have a desire to help others and this is a need that I can fill.

Q. What is the difference between a professional organizer and coaching someone?
A. A professional organizer comes in and does the work for someone. A coach will help the client learn a way to get themselves organized, one that works for them, so that they can become organized and stay organized.

Q. What prompted you to expand the practice to military families?
A. I’m an Army BRAT and an Army Mom. The families serve right alongside their servicemember. They deserve to have knowledge, strength, confidence, and hope for the future. I offer my experience, knowledge and encouragement to support the families and teach them that military life need not be a stressful one.

Q. Why have your chosen to specialize in stress?
A. I tell people all the time, “I strive on stress”. In reality, stress is a part of everyone’s life. It affects us all, some more than others. I have seen what stress can do – it isn’t pretty. Stress can kill you. I have found a way to deal with most of the things life throws at me, without getting too stressed out. I’d like others to benefit from the interesting things I learned in my stress coaching course – good info!

Q. How do we know if our personalities are a good fit?
A. Once someone contacts me, we set up an initial consultation session, which is free. This is the point to ask questions of each other. We see where the person is and how dedicated they are to making a change in their situation. We sit and chat to see how we jive. If it is decided I can help you find your hope and reach your goals for the future, we discuss setting up some sessions.

Q. May I contact past clients?
A. There is a testimonials page  here at If you wish to speak to them, I will give you their contact information.
