Life’s a dance

Life’s a dance

Life’s a dance.

Do you know the John Michael Montgomery song, Life’s A Dance?

“Life's a dance you learn as you go. Sometimes you lead, sometimes you follow.”

“The longer I live the more I believe you do have to give if you wanna receive.”

“Been knocked down by the slamming door, picked myself up and came back for more.”

Interestingly enough, my Toastmasters meeting theme this week was “Perseverance”. One of the questions someone was asked to speak on was… “Is perseverance something you are born with or something you learn?”  That’s a thought provoking question, don’t you think?  How would YOU answer that question?

I am putting the lyrics video to Life’s A Dance into the blog.  Give it a listen.  I’ve always found it encouraging!

I think it is a little of BOTH. Born with & developed.
I think we are ALL born with a sense to “fight on” — to not “cave in” — I think we are stronger than we give ourselves credit for. Most of us.. when faced with serious trials face it well. Oh, we may fall apart a little(or a lot) here and there, but I think overall.. we often surprise ourselves.
I think for those that tend towards that “flight” part of the “fight or flight” — we have to be DETERMINED not to run. We have to learn to stand up for ourselves, for our family in the face of adversity.

Most of the time, I think people that say “I’m not that strong” — “I could never face that” ~~ have already faced MANY things & maybe just didn’t realize how well they persevered through it all. There is a beautiful grace in quiet strength 🙂
