It just feels good… to help others

If you’ve ever helped out someone else, you know what I’m talking about. It just feels good to help others. That sense of relief and happiness literally exudes from the other person and envelopes us too. And we smile just as big as the person we assisted.

Have you ever considered the saying, “What goes around comes around?” We are living proof at this point in our lives…

We happen to have opened our home to a new employee at the church. Someone we’d never met before, but who needed a place to stay for ten days or so until he had an available apartment to bring his family down to. It’s been nice getting to know him and we look forward to meeting his family soon.

We recently discovered our new home was a month behind schedule and that, come the end of August, we would be homeless, for two – five weeks. Imagine our thankfulness when someone told us the people that were currently staying in their basement apartment were leaving sooner than expected and we would be welcome to stay there for however long we needed. Oh yes, what goes around does come around, and it can be SWEET!

I am kicking around the idea of starting a non-profit, called NAEF (National Autism Education Foundation). Most organizations giving out grants and donations (Autism Speaks, etc) are giving to programs or organizations running programs. That’s great for programs, but doesn’t help put people in them who can’t afford them. NAEF would help families who can’t afford to get their children into beneficial therapies, get their loved ones the assistance they need. If I move forward with it, I understand in NC it takes about two years to get a non-profit status up and running, so it won’t happen overnight. Feel free to give me your thoughts on the topic.

I’ve just learned of an opportunity to help comedian Chonda Pierce bring her movie to 500 theaters nationwide. She is seeking donations to fund this effort. I am supporting her. I’ve met her and she is a wonderful, sweet woman. To see what she’s doing, and help out go to…

Remember, it just feels good to help others! And, what goes around comes around!
