I forgot my cell phone!

Oh my goodness! Has this ever happened to you?

I was on my way to a job when something crossed my mind and I reached for my cell phone and… it wasn’t there. My first reaction was OH, NO! My next thought was, I need to call Jim and tell him I forgot my phone…. DUH, I can’t do that without my phone.

I was more than half way to my job and didn’t have time to turn around and go home for my phone. Then I thought, do I really need it? Of course I do, if I have an emergency I have to be able to call somebody, right?

Okay, I’ll call Jim from the office and see if he can bring it waaay out of his way to me, in case I have an emergency. Oops, problem. I don’t know Jim’s cell phone number. It’s programmed into my phone so I don’t have to remember it. Sigh. I could call him at his office, but he’s not going to go all the way home, then waaay out of his way to bring me my phone and go back to work. What to do, what to do? I can’t be without my phone!

Or can I?

Guess what? I was gone from 8AM-5PM from the house (and my phone) and the world did not come to an end!

I was so busy at work that I never had a free second to check my phone for messages or emails. Thankfully, I didn’t have any emergencies, so there was no need for my phone.

It’s truly amazing how dependent we have become on technology, especially our “smart” phones. We turn to our phone, not only for calls and text messages, but for emails, news, weather, driving directions, and just plain fun social media or games.

I am living proof that you do not need to be “connected” to the world 24/7! Even if you have an emergency, chances are someone near you will have a phone you can use to dial 911.

It was rather liberating not to be “connected” to everything for a few hours. Maybe you want to “forget your phone” for a day and enjoy the anonymity.
