When You're Ready To Make A Change

In A Hypocritical World

Hypocrites are all around us, myself included; although being a little too close to me, I probably don’t see it as much as others can.

I do have a tendency to notice it in others, and you do too. For example…

Our politicians (okay no need to go there, that one’s obvious!)

T-shirts that say “Peace” or Co-Exist” while the wearer is spouting hatred.

A fish on the car of a Christian who makes obscene gestures to other drivers when annoyed.

Teachers in public schools who send their children to private schools.

People who # ______________ lives matter while supporting abortion rights.

Gun control advocates who are guarded by people with guns.

Those who look down on drug addicts while being addicted to alcohol or cigarettes. Yes, I know there is a legal difference, but addiction is addiction.

Good, upstanding citizens who abuse their family members at home.

Those who abhor hearing stories of pedophiles knowing they enjoy viewing pornography.

And the list goes on. I’m sure you could add to it.

You’ve heard the old saying, “Do as I say, not as I do.” Have you also heard the quote, by Ralph Waldo Emerson, “What you do speaks so loudly that I cannot hear what you say.” And then there’s the one… “Knowledge is power.”

Consider yourself informed. People notice our hypocrisy! Now that you are aware, you can pay more attention to how your actions may conflict with how you present yourself to the world. Now is the time to take actions to align your walk with your talk. And if you are going to continue to be the person you show yourself to be, at least be honest with yourself and own it. Be who you are. Just sayin’.

Matthew 7:5 New International Version
You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
